Who builds it
It started in a pro shop, not a boardroom
Spectre began at Buffa Distribution’s pro shop, where Mark Buffa got tired of hunting through binders for a layout he had drilled two years earlier. But this isn’t a hobby project bolted together by weekend enthusiasts. Mark is a computer science graduate, an IBPSIA Certified Master Instructor, a USBC Silver Coach, and has represented Canada nine times on the lanes. Luis Rodriguez, a Montreal bowler with twenty years of professional software development behind him, writes the code.
That combination is the point. Every oval calculation, every span type, every spec sheet field comes from people who have actually stood behind the counter and actually competed at a high level, built with the same engineering discipline you would expect from any serious software company. Real coders who are real bowlers, not vibe-coded guesswork wearing a bowling logo.
- Computer science, not guesswork. Built by a computer science graduate and a career software developer, with the version control, testing and engineering discipline that implies.
- High level competitive bowlers. An IBPSIA Certified Master Instructor, a USBC Silver Coach, and nine-time Team Canada bowler, so the nuances of a drilling spec come from lane experience, not a spec sheet someone else wrote.
- Built and proven behind a real counter. Every feature ships against how a shop actually runs, not how it looks in a pitch deck.
